Here are some tips to help save money on your weekly groceries. Remember that every cent counts when it comes to saving.

Buy Generic Brands

Generic brands may not have the fancy label that your used to but contain the same ingredients in most cases. The idea with this is that you need to try out which generic products you can deal with. Some products such as coffee are nearly always better the more you pay whilst others are made on the same production line as your favorite brands.

Stop Eating Take-Away

Buying take away is one of those habits we usually pick up at university or collage. The factor of convenience usually draws us to it. Try making your meals at home more often and make them in bulk, remember you can always freeze leftovers.

Take your lunch to work instead of buying food from the canteen or take away store. A sandwiches cost less than a third of a take away meal.

Shop Around

Today there are plenty of supermarkets specializing in discount groceries. Try to shop at a discount supermarket once a month. Remember that you can stock up on non-perishables whilst youre there.

Buy Seasonal Fruit

Try not to buy fruit out of season. Fruit prices can rise up to 500 percent when their out of season.

Try the Markets

Try to take full advantage of your local fruit and Vegetable or fish market. Why pay full price for food when you can get it at wholesale prices. Supermarkets get their produce from the same markets and then mark up the prices for profit. Its simply a matter of cutting out the middle man.
